Happy Wedding Day, Wills and Kate!

Millions around the world have embraced wedding fever as people celebrate the union of Catherine and William, the fresh-faced newlyweds representing the best of the British royal family. As the nation rejoices with thousands turning up to witness the two tie the knot and catch a glimpse of the bride and groom, they were not disappointed. A vision of radiance and beauty, Kate and Wills looked every bit the royal couple when they said their vows to each other at Westminster Abbey.

(A personal favourite moment of mine; the two share a sneaky glance with each other… and Wills just had to steal a second look at his beautiful bride.)

A triumph for British fashion, Catherine went with McQueen, opting for a timeless Grace Kelly-esque wedding dress with a modest train and lace detailing, which flattered her lean figure and made her the epitome of grace and elegance.

Now personally, I would have liked to have seen her in the Simone LeBlanc design, which had a Victorian lace bodice and more of a dramatic skirt, or even Valentino, which envioned Kate as a blossoming ‘Botticellian Venus’; but who cares because she still looked stunning. And for all your jealous William fans, keep calm, Harry is still single.

No doubt the highlight of the day was the balcony scene as a combination of old and new joined each other to greet us commoners; the moment the world had been waiting had come and crowds of cheering well-wishers were delighted to see Kate and Wills kiss (twice!) and confirm their love for each other.
The kiss itself had a little less Hollywood swoon, and more of the British reserve as William blushed in embarrassment and Catherine giggled coyly.

The numerous snapshots of the romantic gesture will become the defining images of their wedding – and who knows what the future will hold for the new couple?

Here’s to you Wills and Kate, you make me proud to be British.
